Single Use Cards

Generate a single-use card credential scoped to one merchant and capped at the requested amount. It expires after the first authorization or 12 hours, whichever comes first.

How it works

  1. Ramp mints a fresh PAN and CVV at purchase time, scoped to one merchant and capped at the requested amount.
  2. A Ramp fund (Spend Controls) sets the policy ceiling. The agent can only generate credentials against funds available to the authenticated Ramp user.
  3. A connected agent requests the credential through an MCP runtime such as Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, or Perplexity, or through the CLI's Agentic Purchase skill for terminal-based agents.

Limitations

Single-use card credentials are designed for direct merchant checkout. They do not support every transaction type.

Merchant and transaction limits

  • The credential is limited to the selected merchant and approved amount.
  • Merchant-category restrictions on the backing fund still apply.

The following merchant categories are blocked:

  • Merchant-initiated and card-on-file transactions are not supported. This affects subscriptions, recurring billing, and metered AI spend.
